WOW! It has been a few days since I posted. Life got a bit crazy for me on the 10th. My husband paul was taken to the hospital by ambulance at 2AM. he was found to have a blockage in his pancreas and then he was sent 90 miles away to the UW Medical Center, since he was in the midst of doing testing for liver transplant.
Anyway, I went to be with him on 1/13 and stayed in Seattle till the 14th and brought him home.
We went to eat at the hospital cafeteria. I had full intention of having salad bar. However; wreckless emotional eating took over and I engaged in a full hamburger with oinion rings! Half way through it, I toyed with the idea of removing the bun..but that thought was short lived and I did eat it. Then that night, I had some cheese snacks at the hotel.
On the morning of the 14th, I went to the hotel lobby and had a small strawberry yogurt with some strawberries and a cup of coffee and two boiled eggs. And on the way home that night, we stopped at a truck stop and they had a Subway and so i had a chicken sub.
Yesterday, I engaged pretty much back on protocol and drank extra water as i had been lacking in water drinking all week.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a weight loss which brings me to 17.8 pounds in 22 days:) Now i will stay again pretty much on protocol, sticking to my 500 calories a day.
At this point, I do not think i will ever go back to cream in my coffee. The thing i miss the most is fat on my steak and the chicken skin.
I am still learning to read more on food labels than just the calories, fat, carbs, etc. I am learning important things on ingredients. I am still working on feeding my family more healthy choices on the food budget we have. And for the first time, I am going to attempt a shopping list with a month of menu planning for the family. I have been making healthier choices for me and see no reason why the other members of my family cannot eat what i eat. Except, i will make them some sort of starch with meals. I will still have hotdogs, but i think i will do turkey dogs at times. I will continue to have popcorn with canola oil for the kids if they want to snack. Anyway, it is a start. My husband needs 8 servings of protein a day and after transplant, menu will be crucial so I have to make changes and instead of having to make several different foods, they are going to have to deal with it. I will do the best I can with what money I have.
I find it very hard as prices keep going up and the foods people can afford are not so great for a person.
I like whole wheat noodles for spaghetti. I also love naking my own pasta using a soy flour mixed with regular flour because of texture. I am also going to explore making variety of pasta and will be fun.
Remember when you are on a diet plan to drink plenty of water.
